Mill stones.
These stones are from an old mill. They are used to grind the crops for flour.

The stones are located in “Boolsens Stone garden” which is a part of “Bangsbo Garden” in Frederikshavn. Johannes Boolsen, who was a Danish writer, started to collect the stones in 1939, and in 1973 when he died, he had gathered approximately 1000 stones.

After his death, the city bought the stones, and made this “Stone Garden” in honour of him.

There are grindstones from the Stone Age, jars for holy water (for wedding ceremonies) from the middle age, millstones and milestones from the last two centuries and a big bollard from 1800.

Most of the stones were collected in the northern part of Jylland, called Vendsyssel. He used the old way to trade goods for goods. He collected amber at the beaches, made it to jewellery and swapped the amber for the stones.

In the middle of the garden, is there a 350 years old oak.
